East Massapequa History

East Massapequa is a part of the Town of Oyster Bay, which originally belonged to the New Amsterdam colony. It was officially declared a town by the English after they captured the area from the Dutch. Oyster Bay continued to be a part of Queens County until 1898, when its western portion was merged with New York City.
