Franklin Square History

Franklin Square was founded in 1870 by farmer and businessman Andrew Hoffman. It is a census-designated hamlet in Nassau County, which itself was formed in 1899. The area was initially inhabited by Native Americans. Franklin Square is located within the Town of Hempstead, which includes more than 20 incorporated villages and around 35 unincorporated hamlets.
