Glen Cove, New York, in Nassau county, is 8 miles SE of New Rochelle, New York and 20 miles NE of New York, New York. The city is included in the Nassau- Suffolk metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 26,622 people lived in Glen Cove.

Glen Cove History

Glen Cove was initially known as Musketa Cove. It was settled on land that was purchased in 1668 from the Matinecock Indians, the original inhabitants of the area. The area developed into a popular summer resort by the 1850s, bringing with it a railroad in 1867. Glen Cove separated from the Town of Oyster Bay and became an independent city in June of 1917.
