Hyde Park History

The area now known as Hyde Park was settled in by Europeans in the first half of the 1700s. At that time it was known as Stoutenburgh. The town was a part of the Fauconnier Patent. The community was given its present name in 1812. Until 1821, it was a part of the Town of Clinton. Hyde Park is the hometown and burial place of the 32nd President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt.
