Niagara Falls, New York, in Niagara county, is 17 miles NW of Buffalo, New York. The city is located in the Buffalo- Niagara Falls metropolitan area. Niagara Falls has a population of 55,593.

Niagara Falls History

This area had its first European settlers sometime during the 19th century. These early settlers were mostly explorers and missionaries. The influx of new people instigated the already antagonistic natives and led to war in the contest for fur trade. The area started developing industrially, and by the end of 19th century, it was heavily industrialized. Niagara Falls was incorporated as a city in March of 1892.
