North Valley Stream History
The area now known as North Valley Stream was first settled in by Europeans in the 1640s. Prior to that, it was inhabited by Rockaway Indians. North Valley Stream was originally a woodland area. It is currently a census designated place in the Town of Hempstead and is a section of the Village of Valley Stream. The South Side Railroad first entered the area in the late 1860s.
