Salisbury History
Salisbury was originally a part of the Town of Palatine in Montgomery County. It was formed as a separate town on March 3, 1797. Later, on April 7, 1817, it was annexed to Herkimer County. The town was named after Salisbury, Connecticut, from where most of the early settlers came. Salisbury was once inhabited by Native Americans and was first settled in by Europeans in the late 1700s.
